HAND TIED
Extensions

AFTER
Hand Tied Extensions are taking the beauty industry by storm! This technique uses no tape or glue and has minimal points of contact on your natural hair, which means less damage (always our top priority)
At H&C we use a method that uses beads and string to create a “track” and then the wefts of hair are sewn to the track, along with using your hair to set the foundation which is helpful in even distribution of the weight of the weft. When it’s time for a move up, the string is cut, the beads are loosened, and the wefts are almost effortlessly removed.
No one will be able to tell that it's not really your hair until you let them in on your little secret!

FAQS
-
WHAT ARE HAND TIED EXTENSIONS?Hand tied extensions are a thin weft (strip) of hair that are tied together by hand, literally ONE hair at a time! This makes the weft light weight and thin so we can layer more hair in each row and get a completely natural, virtually undetectable look. The alternative (Machine tied) is more bulky and harder to stack, leaving you with less options for a natural look.
-
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAND TIED AND TAPE IN EXTESIONS?Some would just say personal preference, but a more in depth answer would be there are a few main differences.. Tape ins can prove to be a great "gateway method". They are great way to try out extensions as a few can just be added to fill in any thin sides or add slight fullness, also can be used as an addition to hand tied where you can make 'Mini' pieces to detail edges and such. The removal is easy, but can be a little messy with having to remove the tape of a full head. Overall, I don't normally recommend them as a long term option. Hand tied offers less points of contact to your natural hair while still covering area so you can get fuller/thicker results. In the long run I think hand tied are the best option. Half rows or 1 row is a great option to try before you fully commit.
-
DOES IT HURT?Tape in install- No Tape in removal- Can be slightly uncomfortable when brushing out tape if you have a sensitive head Hand tied install- Overall no, but I usually recommend taking an ibuprofen before your appointment due to the fact that we will be pulling the partings fairly tight in order to get clean partings. Any discomfort is minimal and should subside after the first day. Hand tied removal- no Halo- no, but the string can become slightly irritating if worn consistently without taking breaks
-
CAN I STYLE THEM LIKE NORMAL HAIR?Yes, all the hair used in the extensions is human hair that can be treated like your own. One of the best things about extension hair is that it tends to hold curl longer than your natural hair
-
CAN I SWIM IN THEM?Because extension hair is an investment and can be dried out by the saltwater and/or chlorine, which can lead to mating and other issues so I do not recommend swimming in them. I recommend putting your hair in a high bun or top knot while lounging at the pool, beach, or hot tub.
-
DO THEY DAMAGE YOU HAIR?A lot of the answer to that question lies in how the hair is taken care of on a day to day basis. Just like anything else, if you don't care for them properly they can damage your hair. I have been trained by numerous companies to ensure that i can guide you through your at home maintenance and encourage you to communicate with me if you feel like your not understanding how to do your home routine properly.
-
CAN I BRING MY OWN HAIR TO BE INSTALLED?Unfortunately, I am not able to install hair that I have not purchased through my trusted distributors. That way I can guarantee you quality and longevity of the hair.
-
WILL I HAVE TO CHANGE MY ROUTINE DRASTICALLY?Depends. If you're used to going to bed with wet hair, not brushing it much, and all around having your hair be an afterthought.. then yes, it's a bit of an adjustment, but nothing you can't handle. Just a couple extra mins when styling and making sure to brush and put into a loose braid at night are the biggest things that will keep your hair tangle free. In the end, a lot of my clients actually end up saving time because the hair holds curl for days, so you really only have to refresh in between styling.
-
HOW DO I SLEEP?I recommend brushing dry hair and putting in a loose braid or wearing a head wrap if you like
-
HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?The hair typically lasts between 6-9 months, depending on proper at home hair care. In terms of move ups, depending on what method used, oil production, how fast your hair grows and level of activity you should expect to move up Tape ins around 4-6 weeks and Hand Tied 6-10 weeks
-
I DONT WANT SUPER LONG MERMAID HAIR, CAN YOU STILL HELP ME?"YES! I offer a wide variety of lengths and thicknesses. We can just add a bit to fill in sparse areas, or go to a full transformation.
-
DO YOU TRAVEL/CAN YOU COME TO ME?Yes. My travel fee starts at $150. Please email your request to BritanyCaudellHair@gmail.com or schedule a consultation below to work out the details.
-
WHAT ABOUT REMOVAL?If you ever decide to remove them (be ready to feel naked), hand tied are loosened and slid out, tape ins take a little more time because there are more points of contact and the tape has to be removed a little more carefully as to not damage your hair. Removal is free of charge if booked with a haircut (which is highly recommended)
-
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH METHOD IS BEST FOR ME?In terms of "permanent" options, the Hand Tied method is by far my favorite, but it's really a question of personal preference. Hand tied is great for filling in, adding volume, adding length, adding color or all of the above. Tape ins are great for filling in, and adding a bit of volume and slight length, and/or color. You pay less upfront for the tape ins, but have to come in more frequently, and the hair doesnt last as long. Also less points of contact with your natural hair when getting the hand tied, so I usually recommend Hand Tied for people who will want them long term. Tape ins are great for short term, but dont have to be taken out at night I love the Halo for a great addition to a big event or night out on the town. Although it can be worn consecutively, its not something I recommend as a long term daily option.
-
CAN I MAKE PAYMENTS?A 50% deposit is due before I can book your installation appointment. If you'd like to split the second half of the cost into two payments I can set up and invoice for that, but all of the money is due on the day of the service.
